Activity: Orientation Program & Management Games

Organized On       :  19/07/2019

The orientation program is designed to support new students as they begin their journey at St.Vincent Pallotti College. During the course of program, we gradually introduce new students to life at the college, from academics and community norms to resources and support services.Orientation is important because it lays a foundation for the new student’s entire career with the department.  These formative days are not only meant to be educational; they are also meant to be fun. Our creative teachers design innovative and entertaining activities for new students to learn more about each other while familiarizing themselves with Pallotti College.

The orientation day was celebrated to welcome the new comers to our college. The program was started with the introduction of our H.O.D Dr.Prachi Singh and the other faculty members of Management Department i.e. Mrs.Garima Tahiliani, Ms. Aanchal Mishra & Mr.Dhaneshwar Yadav. A brief introduction of college infrastructure, courses offered and other facilities provided was given.

Learning should be enjoyable and listening to a person talk is one of many methods of learning. However, it is less suitable for people who prefer a more practical, active approach. Management games help makes learning interactive, enjoyable and realistic with key learning points to take back to the workplace.Games should not be played for the sake of it, or for making the life of a facilitator easier. However, there are many reasons for running management games including:

  • A game simulates 'real life' conditions of what the training is trying to communicate
  • It is enjoyable with lots of learning in a short space of time
  • It generates interest in the subject and is rich in experiential learning
  • The game allows participants to easily interact, socialize, and network with others
  • It provides much evidence for the facilitator and participants to debrief and learn from.

So, an ice breaker game was organized so that student should become familiar with each other and get indulge in activities. Another Outdoor activity was organized in the free zone “Dog and the Bone”. Basically it was the game for developing strategic thinking skills and time management.
